现在越来越多人都是借助路由器连接上网了，不过很多人除了知道路由器可以连接上网外，不知道其他的路由器的作用，想了解路由器的作用有哪些。下面就给大家介绍下路由器的功能。
一、路由器是做什么的？
路由器定义，路由器工作在网络层，又叫做网关设备。一般宽带接过来的线是不能直接接到电脑里的，并且如果只有宽带线手机连接wifi也连接不上，总得有个设备来发送信号，路由器就是这样的，相当于电视剧的机顶盒。
二、路由器的作用有哪些？
路由器最重要的作用就是能把所有设备都连接起来，组成内网，并且让这些设备都可以通过路由器上网，同时还能发送wifi信号让手机等设备进行连接。具体如下：
1、实现网络互连，通过NAT转换技术，实现上网；
2、IP地址分配与管理，提供DHCP服务器功能；
3、提供用户的安全管理，包括账号、密码、上网时长、黑名单等；
4、数据流量管理，各个上网用户的流量统计，限速等；
5、各种特殊功能，访客上网、定时关机、DMZ主机等。
