一、猫（也就是常说的光猫）：

1、一端连接运营商的入户线缆，一般是光纤，一端连接你自己的路由器。是一个运营商到你自己设备的桥梁。主要的作用是光电转换，可以实现拨号，IPTV，电话等功能。一般的光猫也会带有无线功能，但是因为光猫自身的配置很低，最好不要使用光猫的WIFI。

2、默认的家庭网络中，使用光猫进行拨号，建议将光猫改为桥接模式，使用自己的路由器进行拨号。

二、路由器：

1、自己购买的上网设备，连接在光猫之后。路由器是家庭上网的网关，可以实现宽带拨号，分配IP地址。复杂的路由器，还可以安装一下插件，实现去广告，QOS，游戏加速等功能。

2、路由器分为有线路由器和无线路由器。有线路由器没有WIFI功能，不能发射WIFI信号，只用来进行网络数据转发。对路由有高要求的用户会选择，比如UBNT ER-X，软路由等。

3、无线路由器是大家常用的形式，可以发出WIFI信号，家里的手机，电视等可以连接这个无线路由器的无线信号。无线路由器，一般是外置天线，更有设计感的路由器是内置天线。更美观，实际无线性能与天线是否外置无关。

4、在选择路由器的时候，使用要选择千兆网口的路由器，如果选择了百兆网口的路由器，则你的带宽最多是百兆。这个时候路由器就成了整个家庭网络中的瓶颈。网线选择的时候，最低标准是超五类网线，可以保障千兆网络的传输。网线的水晶头在制作的时候，也要保障八芯全通，八芯全通也是千兆网络的标准。
